The National Coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance, CAGG, Barrister Olusegun Bamgbose, Esq., has commended the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government for reopening worship centers in the country.
The Nigerian government finally lifted the ban on religious gatherings across the country on Monday.
The ban on religious gatherings had lasted for two months, a move taken to check the spread of coronavirus in the country.
Recall that Bamgbose had advised President Buhari to open up worship centers in the country without further delay to avoid disaster.
Bamgbose had noted that religious houses are powerhouses of the country, adding that the continuous shutdown of such places may spell doom for Nigeria’s political leaders.
Reacting to the government’s decision which was announced on Monday, the senior lawyer told us,
“The relaxation of restrictions placed on worship centers by the Federal Government is highly commendable. It is now obvious that Buhari’s government is fast becoming responsive.
“This is good for our democracy. It should be recalled that I made an appeal last week, that worship centres should be opened without further delay and others equally stressed the need to do this, it’s a great delight that the Federal Government has deemed it worthwhile to reopen the worship centres.
“At this critical point, we need prayer. They are our power house. We sincerely commend this great development. Buhari’s government is gradually picking up after the exit of cabal in the Government. I believe Buhari’s government may get better after the demise of cabal in our politics.”
