Burna Boy is staking a claim as one of the biggest stars on the global music scene, has spoken about his rise to fame in a recent interview.

The Nigerian singer recently featured on GQ Style magazine, as he showed off his love for fashion, and spoke about his musical career.

Touching topics like xenophobia in South Africa, his future plans, and lessons he has learned on his journey as a musical artist, Burna Boy explained that he had to go through the steps to get to where he is today, unlike a lot of people who took the elevator.

According to him, it is an advantage that he went through the steps, as he now knows more about what is present on every floor. He said;

“Unlike a lot of other people, I’ve had to go through never-ending steps to get here, whereas other people have taken the elevator up,”

“I’ve always been too heavy for that kind of elevator, so I had to take the stairs. Now I know every floor and everything on every floor.”
